My first visit to King Crab Oyster Bar and Grill on Victoria St, Kitchener and was disappointed to say the least. I guess I had high expectations from the reviews and I figured for the price it must be good. I will say this....the presentation of the food was nice and the food had good flavour, but it ends there. First off the portion was hardly enough to feed a small child. Also, the food came cold it was barley warm. I suspect it was served on a cold plate to begin with which probably didn't help. I think plate warmers would be a good idea to keep the food at least warm once plated. I left there feeling like I did not get my monies worth at all. If I'm going to pay $26 for stuff sole I expect to get a decent size portion which I did not. What else was funny was the stuff sole was suppose to have shataki mushrooms. I had to dig around the plate to find what were the two smallest slivers of mushrooms I've ever seen, they must have really sharp knives. I realize shataki mushrooms may be expensive but I just paid $26 for the plate of food and it's not like sole is a really expensive fish to begin with. All I can say is thank god I didn't order the King Crab Platter at $42!! Do yourself a favour go to the Keg..at least you leave there feeling full and you'll have more money in your pocket too.
